It’s easy to find examples of non-disabled actors playing disabled characters. However, through the ground-breaking decision of the Archers’ producers, blind actor Ryan Kelly was given the role of fully sighted Jack ‘Jazzer’ McCreary in the long-running Radio 4 drama serial where his outstanding dramatic range has brought him well-deserved success. His combination of immaculate comic timing with a talent for harsh realism, has ensured both Jazzer and Ryan have a major following amongst the listening audience.
